Collaborative Researcher/Project Manager -(ARBOR Project) University College Dublin


Research Engineer on the ARBOR Project which is an ARBOR is an Interreg IVB NWE project with 13 partners from 6 European regions dealing with the development of technological solutions and regional strategy development for improved sustainable biomass utilisation. The project is cofunded by local authorities from the United Kingdom, Flanders, Saarland, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, and Ireland.

-Researching biomass based energy sources in NWE, Technology forecasting and road-mapping.
-Policy & Regulation Analysis for Bio-energy in NWE,
-Economic & Governmental policy advising in Ireland/NWE.
-Development of advanced biomass energy technologies.
-Developed and managed project plans and coordinated stakeholder involvement for Ireland in this large multinational/partner project.
-Prepared and presented project updates and outputs for dissemination to project partners, collaborators and the public.
-Worked to help implement the lessons learned to industry application, government utilization and policy standards construction.
- Bridged the gaps and eased managed communication between academia, industry and regulatory bodies from a number of different countries
-Traveled to research and industrial partner suits around Europe representing Ireland as a project partner.


3D Printing Consultant

Researcher & Consultant in the area of consumer 3D Printing. Researching advanced printing methods, new polymer filament types, print optimization and next generation consumer printing technology.

-Printing and optimizing engineering & technology based prototype models in areas such as Mechanical Engineering, Medicine, Energy, Bio-materials and Architecture.
-Testing, Bench-marking and Development of new 3D printing materials, products and applications.
-Development of novel design strategies, models and principles for additive manufacturing and 3D printing.
-Design, prototyping of concept and pre-commercial parts utilizing the unique capabilities of Additive Manufacturing and 3D printing technologies.

Exhibits 3D printing technology at a range of public events in collaboration with companies/groups including UCD Innovation Academy, Dublin Maker Fair, The Rapid Foundation & Ultimaker.

Founder of The Rapid Foundation

The Rapid Foundation is a charity project with the goal of “Putting technology in the hands of the people who need it” to empowering them to invent, design, and create.
Since early 2014 The Rapid Foundation have been developing their strategies, skills and partnerships, while devoting itself to advocating for open source, easy access, low cost technologies for the empowerment of people.  Their work includes both national and international activities from small public engagement seminars and workshops up to month long overseas aid projects in Uganda and India.  

The Rapid Foundation's goal is to provide open source, easy access, low cost technologies to people who need it, aiming to empowering them to invent, design, and create solutions to their problems. Focusing on adding 3D Printing, additive manufacturing and associated technologies to under resourced areas around the globe, and increasing awareness of the technology among SME's, groups, bodies and the general public.

Collaborative Researcher/Project Manager - (EnAlgae Project) University College Dublin

Masters of Engineering (Energy Systems)
Master thesis completed in conjunction with the "EnAlgae" project on entitled "Evaluation and assessment of the potential of Algae as a feedstock for Energy Generation, Food & Feed and Chemical production, with specific emphasis on North West Europe and Ireland."

EnAlgae is a four-year Strategic Initiative of the INTERREG IVB North West Europe programme. It brings together 19 partners and 14 observers across 7 EU Member States with the aim of developing sustainable technologies for algal biomass production.
-Developed and managed project plans and coordinated stakeholder involvement for Ireland in this large multinational/partner project.
